THE FIELD GUIDE / PATCHING
Rollout rings, freezes & application health
Control how far a rollout advances and verify services at every stage.
Approve the targets and the order
Build ordered rings with canaries, bounded parallelism, a soak interval and failure thresholds. Preview the target set, service/site availability limits and existing unhealthy members. Reviewed drain and rejoin adapters retain durable receipts.
Keep freezes and exceptions visible
Apply timezone-aware holiday calendars, change freezes and scoped package deferrals with owners, reasons and expiry. The schedule shows the blocking policy and next eligible start. Emergency exceptions require explicit authorization and audit, and dispatch rechecks policy.
Advance on fresh application evidence
Capture pre- and post-change HTTP, TCP or supported replication health with fixed destinations and bounded timeouts. A healthy process alone is insufficient when the application probe fails. Advance after fresh required checks and the full soak period. An uncertain drain or host mutation retains its capacity reservation and recovery state.
